The Builder's Companion & Workman's General Assistant

William Pain

16pp text, 92pp plates

Pain's comprehensive and practical handbooks filled the gap between Batty Langley and Nicholson and were particularly influential in America. First published in 1758, the Builder's Companion is a standard Palladian 'pattern' book, also including Gothic orders, chimneypieces, doors and windows. We have reprinted the 1769 third edition.
